Brazil targets Panama for poultry and pork exports

The market director of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), Luís Rua, and the trade promotion analyst, Nayara Dalmolin, led last week a sectoral action with potential customers and stakeholders in Panama.
Held in Panama City, the initiative had the participation of Clóvis Serafini, from the Department of Trade and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Jônathas Silveira, from the Department of Agribusiness Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The action, carried out in partnership with the partnership of the local Embassy of Brazil, focused on building strategic ties between animal protein producers in Brazil and the Panamanian market.
On the occasion, ABPA representatives, together with members of the Brazilian Government, discussed cooperation and trade opportunities between the two nations. Among the main agendas was the possibility of opening up the Panamanian market to Brazilian exports of poultry and swine meat, in addition to poultry genetic material.

“At a time when the health situation of the international poultry industry is severely impacted by several outbreaks of Avian Influenza and African Swine Fever, Brazil, which is the only major exporter not having records of the diseases, makes itself available to Panama to contribute with the stable and reliable supply of high-quality animal protein”, evaluated Luís Rua, ABPA's director of markets.
Another action was held earlier in the Dominican Republic, aiming to increase Brazilian pork exports to the country.
