Ireland reports tight cattle supplies, says IFA

Mr. Woods said that there is no market basis for pressure on the trade with cattle prices in Ireland's main export market in the UK continues to rise with the AHDB reporting that “demand is currently ahead of available supplies.”

According to IFA's press release, UK cattle supplies are at £3.77/kg for R3 steers, which is the equivalent of €4.51/kg.

Mr. Woods says that the world cup taking place in the following period, the demand for cattle will see a strong increase over the next month.

Based on the EU Commission forecast, IFA's National Livestock Chairman expects a tighter production and increased consumption for 2018.
