On June 1, 2025, Romania's cattle population reached 1.847 million, a 0.7% increase (+12,944 head) compared to the same period the previous year, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

According to the source, breeding stock totaled 1.223 million, up 1.7% (+20,731 head) from June of last year.

The distribution by development region reveals that the share of the cattle population on June 1, 2025, compared to the same date in 2024, only increased in the Center region (+2.5 %). It decreased in the North-East (-1.1 %.), South-East (-0.7 %), South-West Oltenia (-0.4 %), South Muntenia (-0.2 %), and West (-0.1 %) regions.

In the North-West and Bucharest-Ilfov regions, the cattle population remained constant.
