Brazil: Chicken meat exports confirm positive projections and close the year with a 0.6 percent increase
The result was consolidated by shipments made during the month of December. In total, 510,800 tons of chicken meat were shipped during the period, a volume 13.9% higher than that recorded in the twelfth month of 2024, with 448,700 tons.
As a result, total export revenue for 2025 reached US$9,790 billion, a 1.4% decrease compared to the US$9,928 billion recorded in 2024. In December alone, US$947.9 million was recorded, a 10.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, which was US$856.9 million.
"The year was marked by the sector's resilience and the overcoming of one of the greatest challenges in the history of national poultry farming, with the registration of an outbreak, now resolved, of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in commercial birds. Closing the year with positive results, as predicted by ABPA, is an achievement to be celebrated and reinforces the projected outlook for 2026, expanding the Brazilian presence in the global market, in line with the sector's expected production for the year," advises the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
The United Arab Emirates, the main destination for chicken meat exports in 2025, imported 479,900 tons (+5.5% compared to 2024), followed by Japan with 402,900 tons (-9.1%), Saudi Arabia with 397,200 tons (+7.1%), South Africa with 336,000 tons (+3.3%), and the Philippines with 264,200 tons (+12.5%).
"The full resumption of shipments after the impacts of Avian Influenza is already showing positive signs in export figures. This is the case with shipments to the European Union, which registered a 52% increase in export volumes in December, and to China, which, in a short period, has already imported 21,200 tons. These are indicators that project the maintenance of a positive scenario for the year 2026", emphasizes Santin.
