Brazil: Chicken meat shipments increased 6.6 percent in July

Surveys by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) show that Brazilian exports of chicken meat (considering all products, between fresh and processed) totaled 432.1 thousand tons in July. The number exceeds by 6.6% the volume shipped in the seventh month of 2022, with 405.3 thousand tons.

Brazil: Chicken meat shipments increased 6.6 percent in July

Revenue generated by shipments reached US$ 858.7 million, a figure 3.7% lower than that recorded in the same period last year, with US$ 892 million.

In the accumulated result for the year (January to July), chicken meat exports totaled 3.061 million tons, a volume 8.2% higher than the balance recorded in 2022, with 2.828 million tons.

In revenue, sector sales in the first seven months of the year reached US$ 6.027 billion, a performance 7.2% higher than the total recorded in 2022, with US$ 5.620 billion.

The main destination for chicken meat exports from Brazil, China imported 50.8 thousand tons in July, a number 35% higher than that registered in the same period last year. Next came the United Arab Emirates, which imported 46.4 thousand tons (+23%) and Japan, with 37.5 thousand tons (+7%). Sales to South Africa were also highlighted in the month, with a total of 25.7 thousand tons (+73%).

"The flow to the main chicken meat markets in Brazil continues at a positive pace and with the perspective of historical balances. We have recorded average monthly shipments of over 435,000 tons and monthly revenues of over US$860 million. These are numbers that confirm ABPA's expectations for the year", emphasizes ABPA's president, Ricardo Santin. 

Largest exporter in Brazil, Paraná shipped 179.3 thousand tons in July, a number 14.6% higher compared to the same period in 2022. In second place, Santa Catarina exported 90.3 thousand tons (+3.4%). Then came Rio Grande do Sul, with 63.8 thousand tons (+3.5%), São Paulo, with 23 thousand tons (-3.1%), Goiás, with 18.9 thousand tons (+12. 9%) and Mato Grosso do Sul, with 13.5 thousand tons (-1.7%).
