Brazil: Turkey meat exports record an increase of 17.8 percent in 2023
Sales generated over the 12 months of 2023 generated revenue of US$201 million, a result 6.2% higher than the previous year's total, with US$189.3 million.
In December, sales of turkey meat to the international market were 4.2 thousand tons, a volume 20.4% higher than that shipped in the same comparative period in 2022, with 3.5 thousand tons. Revenue obtained from sales totaled US$8.4 million, 5.1% lower than the total made in the twelfth month of 2022, with US$8.9 million.
The largest importer of turkey meat produced in Brazil, Mexico imported 16 thousand tons in 2023, a number 4% lower than the previous year. In positive flow, South Africa imported 12.9 thousand tons (+38%) and the European Union, 10.8 thousand tons (+239%).
"Turkey meat exports have maintained an upward movement over the last five years, and gained special momentum in 2023 with sales to Europe and South Africa. The expectation is that the pace will be maintained throughout this year", highlights the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
