Danish Crown brings in experienced top manager
In early April, the management of Danish Crown announced that it would split the Danish Crown Business Unit into three business units, each with billion-dollar turnover: Industry, Foods and UK. At the same time, a process was initiated to find three new directors, and the first new top manager is now ready. Jens Peter Clausen has been appointed as Executive Vice President and chief executive of Danish Crown Industry.
"We have made a scoop with the hiring of Jens Peter Clausen, who returns home to Denmark after a long and distinguished career in the USA. He is a highly competent international leader with documented experience in creating positive changes, for example with the use of new technology, in some of the world's largest production-intensive companies," says Group CEO Niels Ulrich Duedahl. He continues: "I know Jens Peter as a formidable leader. He will now be responsible for our largest business unit with a turnover of just over 17 billion kroner. His task will be to ensure operational performance, from the time the pigs are picked up from the farms until the products are sold and leave the slaughterhouses, as well as to drive the development of the entire business unit. He will ensure that our slaughterhouses are highly efficient and work to strengthen our position in sales to our industrial customers for the benefit of the overall value creation in the group", explains Niels Ulrich Duedahl.
Jens Peter Clausen most recently served as Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing at General Motors – a crucial role where he was responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance of a worldwide manufacturing network. Prior to General Motors, he held significant senior positions at, among others, Google, Tesla and LEGO – both in Denmark and abroad.
"My family and I have had a desire to return home to Denmark, and in my opinion, Danish Crown is among the most exciting companies in Danish business right now. Therefore, I look forward to being able to contribute to developing Danish Crown with this role and at the same time do so in close collaboration with Niels Ulrich Duedahl, with whom I have previously worked," says Jens Peter Clausen.
Jens Peter Clausen will start his job on August 1. In addition to being put in charge of Danish Crown Industry, he will also be given a place in Danish Crown's Global Management Team together with the other top managers of the group's eight business units. Here too, he is destined for a special role, says Niels Ulrich Duedahl.
"It is fantastic that Jens Peter can join already after the summer holidays. This means that he can help put his mark on the group's strategic direction. He will be a frontrunner in optimizing our complex production processes and implementing new technologies. In this way, we strengthen value creation across our business units," says Niels Ulrich Duedahl.
Jens Peter Clausen is looking forward to starting the job and getting to know the organization.
"Experience has taught me that organizations succeed best when employees thrive, feel ownership of their tasks and have the opportunity to develop. I look forward to contributing to moving Danish Crown along with my new colleagues", says Jens Peter Clausen.
Jens Peter Clausen moves to Aarhus with his family at the end of July and has his first working day at Danish Crown on August 1.
