HKScan adds poultry to its products exported to South Korea

HKScan is ready to launch poultry exports from Finland to South Korea. Export approval for Finnish poultry meat is a significant step for the company’s exports. HKScan currently exports Finnish and Swedish pork to the Asian market.

The volume of exports is estimated at 3-5 million kilos for the first year, according to a press release from the company. Products exported to South Korea will be chicken legs, wings and feet. Chicken meat is from HKScan’s Rauma unit, which has invested in growth in recent years, also with a view to exports.
Finnish chicken meat is unique by global standards. Meat is responsibly produced and antibiotic-free. In Finland, the animal disease situation is excellent and animal welfare and environmental efficiency of production are taken into account at all stages, the company informs.
“The export licence is concrete proof of the high quality of Finnish meat. The Finnish authorities have been very supportive of the domestic food industry’s export efforts. My warmest thanks go to all those who have been involved in making this happen,” says Jari Leija, HKScan’s EVP Business Unit Finland.
