JBS has already delivered more than 120,000 earrings to livestock farmers
The batch of 20 duly registered males, originating from a farm in Marabá, was sent to the Friboi facility under federal inspection in the municipality. The entire process was monitored by a platform from the Pará Sustainable Livestock Program, from the farm's departure to the factory, ensuring full traceability throughout the production chain.
Vinicius Lima, head of the company Apoema Agro, supplied the traced batch to Friboi. Lima is a fan of the program. This state initiative, in partnership with other organizations, aims to individually identify all cattle and buffalo in transit starting in January 2026 and reach the entire state herd by January 2027.
"I have very high expectations regarding herd traceability in the state of Pará. This was a future that has become the present," says Lima. "What I find most interesting about this process is the increased value of our production, which is meat". According to him, investments in genetics, technology, and animal welfare, among other best practices, combined with traceability, will increase the value of our products and make our business more prosperous. It will be good for the entire livestock chain". The producer reported that he will receive more than 2,000 additional ear tags from JBS to identify his herd.
Accelerator
The JBS Accelerator is part of the Company's investment of over R$35 million in traceability and support for small producers in Pará. With technical support, identification tags, and digital tools, the program encourages producers to join the Transparent Livestock Platform, reinforcing JBS's commitment to an increasingly sustainable supply chain. Free tag distribution through the Company's Accelerator ends in December of this year.
Fábio Dias, Sustainable Livestock Leader at JBS, emphasizes that "the first processing of individually tracked animals in Pará reinforces JBS's commitment to supporting producers in building a more sustainable and transparent livestock industry."
State program
Launched by the state government at COP28 in Dubai two years ago, the Pará Sustainable Livestock Program aims to ensure sanitary, land tenure, and socio-environmental compliance across the entire production chain through partnerships between public institutions, companies, and rural producers.
In this context, a JBS initiative with the NGO The Nature Conservancy (TNC) provides for the donation of 2 million tags, primarily to small producers, using resources from the Bezos Earth Fund. The JBS Accelerator program is developing independently of this donation. To ensure the system's functionality, JBS also donated 175 RFID (radio frequency identification) readers to Adepará, equipping the state agency.
The Green Offices program, launched nationwide by JBS in 2021, is another support for the initiative. In Pará, JBS maintains services in four strategic municipalities for livestock farming: Marabá, Redenção, Tucumã, and Santana do Araguaia. Nationally, the program has reached the milestone of nearly 20,000 rural properties with environmental regularization. In Pará alone, more than 4,000 have been completed.
