Jose Batista named JBS president

The founder of Brazilian meat processor JBS has been elected chief executive of the company, after his two sons Wesley and Joesley were arrested last week after an investigation into insider trading.

JBS's board of directors have unanimously elected Batista Sobrinho as president, who will complete the current term of office.

Jose Batista Sobrinho founded JBS in 1953 and was the first president of the company and he has been a member of the board of directors for nearly 10 years.

The board of directors also elected Gilberto Tomazoni as Global Chief Operating Officer. He has been with the company since 2013 and he was president of the poultry division, president of Seara and global president of operations.
