Mongolia's meat exports totaled $146.5 million in 2018
Mongolian deputy prime minister Ulziisaikhan Enkhtuvshin said that this level is not enough and producers need to work on increasing the value of meat and launch a brand of organic meat, according to ARD.
Meat exports now account for 8.4% of the country's total export revenues.
“The Government of Mongolia has begun to develop policies aimed at improving the legal environment for the livestock industry, at strengthening the economic cycle, and promoting economic growth, investment and exports,” the Deputy Prime Minister said
The Mongolian official added that there is a tendency of increase in the number of livestock. Still, he underlined that the state of the pastures in the country is deteriorating, livestock deaths are becoming more frequent and animal disease are spreading.
