North America and Asia set as main regional markets for Spanish food

Spain is revealing its main targeted markets in the world for Food and Beverages in a Priority Market Report prepared by the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries (FIAB).
The United States, China and Hong Kong, Japan, and Canada have been nominated as the markets that will present a high potential for Spanish products, including seafood, meat and meat products, reports Interempresas portal.
Seafood from Spain seems to be one of the products that raise interest in the US along with, wine, olive oil and dairy products.
Also, China-Hong Kong its a market that presents great business opportunities for Spanish exporters as the average growth of 23% recorded in the last few years is to be kept at this pace for while. Pig products exports in the Chinese market accounted for more than half of Spanish food and beverage exports (698 million euros).
Pork is in high demand in Japan too, according to the FIAB report. In the last financial year, sales to this market grew by 18% to reach € 819 million, a positive trend that is also expected in the long term encouraged by the signature last December of the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement. The export of pork products, especially the Iberian, covered more than 50% of the total.

The objective of the Report is to strengthen the internationalization of the food and beverages industry, allowing the sector to continue consolidating the good figures that exercise after exercise favor the positive contribution to the trade balance, in addition to projecting the image of Spain to the world through your food and drinks. Only in 2017, the exports of the food and beverages industry recorded a growth of 9%, standing at more than 30,000 million euros.

"If we look at the evolution of exports of our food and beverages since 2000, the result is spectacular: they have multiplied by three, from something less than 10,000 million euros to 30,650 million today," says Mauricio García de Quevedo, general director of FIAB.
