October saw the highest volume in the historical series for Brazilian beef exports

Brazilian beef exports reached over 357,000 tons in October 2025, the highest monthly volume since the beginning of the historical series in 1997, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC/Secex) compiled by the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (ABIEC). This result represents a 1.5% increase compared to September (352,035 tons), which until then had been the record, and an 18.7% increase compared to October 2024 (301,069 tons).

Revenue for the month totaled US$1.90 billion, a 39.1% increase compared to the same period last year (US$1.37 billion).

From January to October, Brazil exported 2.79 million tons, with a cumulative value of US$14.31 billion, representing growth of 16.6% in volume and 35.9% in value compared to the same period in 2024 (2.40 million tons; US$10.53 billion). This performance keeps the country close to the 2024 record (2.89 million tons; US$12.8 billion) and confirms Brazil's leadership in global beef exports. In total, shipments reached 162 countries in 2025.

If it maintains its current pace, Brazil should surpass this historic mark in November, consolidating 2025 as the best year in the series since records began in 1997.

Shipment composition

Fresh meat accounted for 89.7% of the total volume (320,559 t) and 93.5% of revenue (US$ 1.77 billion), followed by offal (22,100 t; US$ 71.4 million) and processed products (7,300 t; US$ 47.9 million). Fats (4,200 t; US$ 8.4 million), tripe (2,800 t; US$ 5.1 million), and salted meats (0.2 thousand t; US$ 0.7 million) were also exported. The average price of fresh meat was US$ 5,539 per ton.

Main destinations

China maintained its lead in October, with 190,829 tons (US$ 1.046 billion), equivalent to 53% of the total volume and 55% of the month's total revenue. Next came the European Union (17,099 t; US$ 140.4 million), the United States (12,935 t; US$ 83.1 million), Chile (12,776 t; US$ 72.3 million), the Philippines (12,437 t; US$ 56.3 million), Mexico (10,172 t; US$ 56.2 million), Egypt (12,142 t; US$ 53.9 million), Russia (11,816 t; US$ 48.6 million), Saudi Arabia (6,564 t; US$ 34.7 million), and Hong Kong (7,811 t; US$ 29.7 million).

In the accumulated period from January to October, China remains the main destination, with 1.34 million tons (US$ 7.10 billion), representing 48.1% of the volume and 49.7% of the total value exported. In second place are the United States, with 231,900 tons (US$ 1.38 billion), followed by Mexico (104,300 tons; US$ 569.4 million), Chile (104,400 tons; US$ 569.8 million) and the European Union (101,400 tons; US$ 824.0 million).

The markets that most increased their purchases in 2025 were Mexico (+213%), the European Union (+109%), China (+75.5%), Russia (+50.4%), and the United States (+45%), demonstrating the diversification and strengthening of Brazilian exports.

Together, the top ten destinations accounted for approximately 84% of total exports, with China (48% of the volume), the United States (8%), Mexico and Chile (approximately 4% each) standing out, demonstrating the broad geographic diversification of Brazilian sales.

The United States maintains positive performance.

Even with a decrease in shipments to the United States over the last three months, due to the additional tariffs imposed in August, when 9,300 tons were exported, followed by 9,900 tons in September and 12,900 tons in October, the country remains a key destination for Brazilian beef.

Despite the measure, Brazil maintains exports to the United States, supported by the competitiveness and consistency of the product. In the period from January to October, sales totaled 232,000 tons, an increase of 45% in volume and 38% in value compared to the same period in 2024 (160,000 tons; US$1.0 billion), exceeding the total exported in all of last year (229,000 tons; US$1.35 billion).

Expansion and regularity

According to the president of ABIEC, Roberto Perosa, the performance in October confirms the strength of the sector, the progress in opening and expanding new markets in partnership with the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs and with ApexBrasil, in addition to the balance between the domestic market and exports.

"Brazil continues to expand its international presence with quality and regularity of supply, a result of the joint work between industry and government in opening new markets. But it is important to remember that only about 30% of the meat produced in the country is exported, while the majority, around 70%, supplies the domestic market. This shows the robustness of domestic consumption and the balance between meeting Brazilian demand and consolidating our position among the world's leading suppliers".

ABIEC brings together 47 companies responsible for 98% of Brazil's beef exports and works to defend, promote and expand the international presence of Brazilian beef.
