Pig prices have increased in Spain

EU pig prices have shown a mixed picture last week, as Germany has stopped the increase in live price acquisitions. In Spain, which still experiences a low supply of live pigs, prices increased the most (+8 ₵) compared to last week. Denmark raised its prices (+7 ₵) due to the boom in meat trade. In France and Austria, prices increased slightly more slowly (+4 ₵). In Belgium, the price has been held. In the Netherlands, there have been slight reductions in purchase prices (-3 ₵)
Many experts see the reason for this situation in bad weather and the lack of acceptance of the increase in the prices of pork products by retail chains and exporters. They note that a certain period is needed to negotiate new contracts with changed terms.
In Germany, the market is balanced. The slaughterhouse demand is sufficiently covered by the livestock supply. The VEZG quotations of the price of fattening pigs remained at the previous week's level of 1.95 € /kg.
