Poultry genetics shipments to grow 5.7 percent in 2024

Brazilian exports of poultry genetics (including 1-day-old chicks and fertile eggs) generated 12.2% more revenue in August, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). In total, they were US$ 17.6 million in the eighth month of this year, compared to US$ 15.7 million in the previous year.

Poultry genetics shipments to grow 5.7 percent in 2024

August shipments in volume totaled 1,492 tons, 7.1% lower than the 1,607 tons exported in 2023.

In the year to date (January to August), poultry genetics exports reached 18,283 tons, 5.7% higher than the previous year's total, with 17,295 tons. Revenue generated by shipments reached US$ 151.3 million, 6.7% lower than the previous year, with US$ 162.1 million.

Taking the lead among the main importers, Venezuela was the destination of 467 tons in August, a figure 415% higher than in the same period last year, with 91 tons. Next are Mexico, with 323 tons (-61%), Senegal, with 221 tons (-22%), Paraguay, with 194 tons (+11%) and Saudi Arabia, with 91 tons (+1727%).

"Venezuela is experiencing a period of growth in its production and has increased its imports of poultry genetics from Brazil. This flow is added to the high imports from Paraguay, South Africa and Peru, maintaining the positive pace of the sector in August", emphasizes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
