Poultry meat production to increase at a slower rate

Poultry remains the most consumed meat item in the entire world but the growth of the sector is slowing down, according to the 2018 edition of the WATT Executive Guide to World Poultry Trends.
World poultry production is at nearly 123 million tons in 2018, and it remains the most produced meat as lead by the US, China, and Brazil. This year, the sector modestly expanded with a forecasted 1.6% increase. Changing diets in developing countries and strengthening economies are increasing production worldwide, but at a slower rate as population growth slows overall, according to the report.
Nevertheless, egg production worldwide has registered an increase of 18% compared to the situation reported 10 years ago. World egg production has reached 74 million tons, with China, the US, and India as the leading egg producing companies. This continues to be driven by rising rates of worldwide egg consumption, says the report.
