Production of meat in the Czech Republic rose by 2.1% in 2018

The Czech Republic witnessed an increase of 2.1% last year in its meat production, which totaled just over 447,000 tonnes.

Production of meat in the Czech Republic rose by 2.1% in 2018

The number of slaughtered cattle in 2018 was 237,000 head. Meanwhile, the beef production was up 5.7% to 71,579 tonnes.

The country imported approximatively 38,000 tonnes of beef. These imports rose by 1.8% during 2018 compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the country's beef exports also rose by 13.8% in the mentioned period, totaling 11,500 tonnes. The main importers were Poland, the Netherlands and Germany.

Meanwhile, although the pig meat still accounts for almost half of the total meat output, it stagnated in 2018 at just under 211,000 tonnes. The Czechs imported 273,839 tonnes of pork and the main destinations were Germany, Spain and Poland. The pork exports fell by 18.5% to 27,533 tonnes and the main destination was SLovakia.

The poultry production was up 3.4% in the mentioned period to 164,261 tonnes. Still, the Czech Republict's poultry imports were up 8.1% and the exports witnessed a decreae by 7.4%.
