Russia to substitute imported food processing machinery with local equipment

Cherkizovo's representative in the working subgroup of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Import Substitution in the Food Machinery Industry, Anastasia Mikhailova, headed the latest meeting of the subgroup that took place last week. Created as part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this platform provides a venue for a meaningful dialogue between representatives of the agricultural sector, food equipment manufacturers, industry associations and government authorities.
" Cherkizovo Group, which welcomed working subgroup members at its Kashira plant in 2018, is honoured to take the lead as it has the necessary expertise and is well aware of the current trends and challenges faced by the industry when it comes to meat processing equipment.

For the Ministry, the involvement of one of Russia's leading meat producers in the equipment import substitution subgroup is also a sign that the industry is ready to start a dialogue and solve existing issues", announced the company in a press release.
Cherkizovo also plans to implement an Artificial Intelligence solution developed by Matller in one of its poultry plants. In May, the company received a distinction at the SAP Innovation Awards 2019 for its fully automated smoked sausage plant in Kashira launched in summer 2018. The software platform at the Kashira plant includes SAP ERP based on SAP S/4HANA, MES-level systems using the SAP NetWeaver industry solution, and SCADA systems, which serve as the interface between MES and the equipment. The plant is the industry's first to conform to Industry 4.0 requirements, boasting fully automated processes and minimum human involvement.
