Vietnam starts a new attempt of vaccinations against ASF
According to press reports, vaccinations against African swine fever (ASF) in domestic pigs are being resumed in Vietnam. They were suspended at the end of August after dozens of animals died after the vaccine was administered. According to state veterinary officials, the deaths were the result of improper treatment that failed to follow department guidelines. The deaths occurred due to dosing problems. In other cases, however, there were no problems, but positive results.
In Vinh Phuc province, ministry veterinary officials now intend to expand ASF vaccination soon. The plan is to use up to 600,000 cans. Attention should be paid to stricter control of the vaccination process in accordance with the guidelines of the ministry and the instructions of the animal health department. Monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine continues.
