Vietnam exported seafood products worth $6.35 billion by the end of September, up 5.3% compared to the same period in 2017.

Vietnam's seafood exports to the US and the EU surpassed $1.1 billion

The export value to the US and the EU exceeded $1.1 billion. Meanwhile three products exported reached significant values: shrimp, pangasius and fish (excluding pangasius) reached $2.62 billion; $1.59 billion and $1.03 billion, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

By the end of September, the pangasius export value was $1.59 billion, increasing 22.6% and accounting for 25.1% of the total seafood export value. In the first three quarters of this year, Pangasius was the group of seafood products with the highest growth rate.

By the end of September, the value of shrimp export reached $ 2.62 billion, down 4.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 41.3% of total export value. In the first nine months of this year, the value of shrimps dropped was due to global shrimp prices, while shrimp production in many countries remained high.

In the first nine months of 2018, tuna export value reached USD 473.9 million, up 10.3% over the same period last year.
