Brazilian pork exports drop by 8.9% in the first seven months of 2022
Revenue accumulated between January and July of this year reached US$ 1.337 billion, a figure 16.2% lower than that recorded in the same period in 2021, when US$ 1.596 billion were obtained.
Considering only the month of July, the sector's sales reached 96.3 thousand tons, a volume 6.2% lower than the 102.7 thousand tons exported in July 2021. The balance in dollars of the month's shipments totaled US$ 222 .4 million, 9.7% lower than the result of July last year, with US$ 246.4 million.
Main destination for Brazilian pork exports, China imported 38,400 tonnes in July this year (-24.4%). In second place, the Philippines imported 8.2 thousand tons (+238.2%). Other highlights were Thailand, with 5 thousand tons (+2149.7%) and Uruguay, with 4.1 thousand tons (+7.8%).
“There is a new level in pork sales to China, around 40 thousand tons, which should remain in the coming months and above the volumes practiced in the first half of this year. At the same time, we see that other markets have gained prominence in 2022, such as the Philippines, USA, Thailand and Japan. For these countries, we have destined products with higher added value, which has kept exports above 90 thousand tons per month since March, giving an indication of the trend until the end of 2022”, analyzes Luís Rua, ABPA's director of markets.
