With at least one product present in 8 of every 10 homes in Spain, ElPozo is a good example of how a family business can put a global footprint in the meat industry.
The company has reported a turnover of €1.2 billion per year of which €221 million is coming from the export markets, as the Asia Sales Coordinator, John Hickin is explaining in an interview for EuroMeatNews.
"We're becoming a little bit more global in our activity. Eventually, we look for growth markets apart from Europe. We look for Asia, which is a very important area. We are now in our home territory, in Spain, but growth it will come from export", thinks Hickin.
Asian clients are important in the near future and the company will be present at the trade fairs in Singapore, Seoul, Hong Kong and China.
"One thing that I've learned in 20 years with this company is that you must adapt very quickly to new tendencies. We have a lot of new items that are coming along", explained ElPozo's Sales Coordinator for Asia. "Meat is becoming more prominent and we think that the meat industry is going to have to be on the cutting edge of new technology with production. Whether that will be tenderizing or processing we have to be sure that we give the costumers what they want", added John Hickin.
