ABPA celebrates resumption of Mexican imports of chicken meat from Brazil

The reopening was confirmed by MAPA, after extensive negotiations with authorities from the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico (equivalent to the Brazilian ministry), and is valid for all authorized units, except those located in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

"This is an important step towards normalizing the flow of Brazilian exports after the isolated and already eradicated situation of Avian Influenza. Mexico is among the top ten destinations for our exports and has seen a strong increase in imports. The expectation now is for the full reestablishment of exports, with the possible reinclusion of Rio Grande do Sul", emphasizes ABPA president Ricardo Santin.

Between January and May of this year, Mexico imported 86.8 thousand tons of chicken meat from Brazil, a figure that exceeded by 44.8% the 59.9 thousand tons registered last year. Revenue from shipments this year reached US$ 208.7 million, a balance 43.7% higher than in the first five months of 2024, with US$ 145.2 million. Mexico remains the eighth main destination for Brazilian exports this year.
