In addition, the agreement includes the recognition of the equivalence of Argentine's control and certification system, which will help speed up new authorizations in the future.

"This authorization establishes a 15-day period for the official opening of the market and simultaneously allows the technical teams of the Philippine Health Service to begin evaluating the veterinary certificates already proposed by Argentine to begin exports from our country", said an official statement.

"The equivalence between the control systems of both countries is a step forward that facilitates the authorization of new Argentine establishments that are interested in sending their meat production to that destination", he added.

The achievement is the result of intense work in negotiations carried out throughout last year between the two countries, through coordinated work between the Ministry of Economy through the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and Senasa, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Argentine Embassy in Manila.

"To achieve these openings, our country received two visits from Philippine delegations that inspected and verified the official control system of Senasa for the production of beef, pork and poultry", the statement said.

In 2023, the Philippines imported meat and by-products worth more than US$1.75 billion from around the world. In turn, according to the Department of Agriculture of the Philippines, between January and October meat imports in the Philippines increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2023. Argentine thus manages to establish itself in an important market with a growing demand.
