Brazil will reach record meat production in 2026

Brazilian production will reach the record level already expected for 2025 (32.06 million tons) in 2026, despite the projected decline in beef production, according to a forecast by the National Supply Company (Conab).

The increase will be possible thanks to record pork and chicken production, according to the agency linked to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

Chicken meat production will increase by 2.8% to 15.9 million tons in 2026, and pork production will rise by 3.6% to 5.8 million tons.

On the other hand, beef production will fall by 3.6% to 10.6 million tons, the lowest volume since 2023.

After record production in 2024 (11 million tons), Brazilian beef production will fall in 2025 and continue to shrink in 2026 because, due to higher prices, farmers increased the number of slaughtered females, which reduced calf replacement.

According to projections, with increased production, Brazil will reach record exports of 11 million tons of meat in 2026, a 2.9% increase compared to 2025.

Exports of all three proteins will reach record levels in 2026: 5.4 million tons of chicken, up 2.5%; 4.1 million tons of beef (up 2.4%); and 1.5 million tons of pork (up 5.2%).

Conab's Fiber and Food Manager, Gabrile Correa, stated that exports will grow in 2025 and 2026 despite the additional 50% tariff the United States imposed on the import of most Brazilian products, including meat, thanks to the fact that the country's largest meat companies have their own operations in the world's largest market.

According to Correa, exports will also grow, driven by China, which already accounts for more than half of Brazilian meat sales abroad and has ended up absorbing part of the meat that was no longer sent to the United States.
