Paraguay's meat sector prepares for US and Japanese health audits
Paraguayan health authorities are coordinating actions ahead of two important international audits scheduled for the coming months. These are technical inspections by the United States and Japan, which are key to sustaining and expanding beef export markets.
In this context, the president of the National Animal Quality and Health Service (Senacsa), José Carlos Martin, held a meeting with the institution's directors to plan the preliminary work. The first audit will be conducted by the United States Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and will take place from July 16 to 31. Its purpose is to verify compliance with the sanitary standards required by that country, which officially approved Paraguayan beef in December 2023.
Subsequently, from August 4 to 8, a mission from Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) will arrive to conduct its first on-site audit as part of the process of opening the Japanese market to domestic beef.
Senacsa emphasizes the importance of both technical visits, noting that they represent a strategic opportunity to strengthen Paraguay's presence in high-value markets and continue strengthening the competitiveness of the meat sector internationally.
