JBS expands its operations at its largest beef unit in Australia

JBS began operating the second production shift at the Dinmore beef unit, in the Queensland region, Australia. This is the Company's largest beef protein factory in Oceania, with daily processing of 3,400 animals – 10% of the country's capacity.

JBS expands its operations at its largest beef unit in Australia

With an investment equivalent to R$250 million, the extension of the operation will double the unit's production capacity over the next 5 months. In total, 500 new employees will be hired - 300 of them have already started their roles.

"This demonstrates the strength of our unique global platform, diversified by proteins and geographies", says Gilberto Tomazoni, Global CEO of JBS. In addition to supplying the Australian market, the unit exports to Asia, including the Middle East, and North America.

With this start of the second round, the Company continues to expand its operations in a responsible and sustainable way, says Brent Eastwood, CEO of JBS Australia. "Our investments in Dinmore underscore our commitment to not only producing superior quality, but also creating meaningful employment opportunities and contributing to the local economy", he says.

When the second shift is operating at full capacity, the number of employees at the plant will exceed 1,800 people. Among those hired, there are electricians, maintenance supervisors, butchers, slicers and professionals in other functions. Located in the city of Ipswich, in Greater Brisbane, the Dinmore unit has people from 47 nationalities on its teams – a diversity of talents and skills that marks JBS in all the countries in which it operates. JBS is the largest food producer in Australia, with more than 15 000 employees in the country, with a strong portfolio in beef, sheep, pork and salmon with value-added brands.
