4076 | Watch out for Brazil! - warns GIRA | Brazilian meat exports are supposed to have an excellent year due to a mix of factors comprising the devaluation of the currency and increased production. |
For this year, Brazil seems to be the most better-placed supplier in the global meat market, according to the latest GIRA analysis. Due to pre-COVID19 conditions in China, such as ASF crisis and the deficit of animal protein, the giant Asian market has proved to be supportive for oversupply from the EU, Brazil and the US. However, as Brazilian Real is getting very weak in front of the US dollar, the competitiveness of Brazilian meat products will increase in short-term, says the latest GIRA forecast for the global meat trade.
A similar conclusion was reached by the analysts of Bank of America "The trend of solid global demand for Brazilian animal proteins should continue, despite the prospect of falling prices for some products", they explained in their early September report.
According to data released by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Economy, Brazilian meat exports have maintained "an impressive trajectory in August", with a 43% growth in beef shipments, 25% in chicken meat exports and an increase of 120 % in the external trade of pork.

However, 2021 may turn out to be a difficult year for all major meat exporters as "short term demand hit at a global level, even in China - masked by the ASF crisis. 2021 will be a difficult year of rebalancing and uncertainty", said GIRA analysts.
| 1 | Industry | 2020-09-04 11:15:23 | 2025-07-10 00:35:27 | Details Edit Delete | ||

BRF's stake in the new company will be 70% and HPDC will have 30%, the Brazilian firm said.

The joint venture's announcement underscores BRF's push to move from a purely exporter role to a local supplier of meat products in the country.

Saudi Arabia imported an annual average of 564,476 metric tons of Brazilian chicken products in the decade ended in 2022, according to data compiled by the Arab-Brazil Chamber of Commerce. Last year, however, it bought a smaller 340,000 metric tons, ranking fourth among Brazil's top chicken destinations behind the United Arab Emirates, Japan and China.

BRF said the main goal of the joint venture will be developing the halal meat industry in the region, referring to food that must be produced according to Muslim dietary requirements.

The joint venture's formalization comes days after SALIC, a wholly owned subsidiary of PIF, acquired a 10.7% stake in BRF through a follow-on share offering as part of Saudi Arabia's long-term goal to secure food security for the Kingdom.

BRF has sold products in the Middle East for over 50 years. Starting in 2009, it set up its own distribution network in Saudi Arabia, where it also acquired a food processing unit three years ago.
| 1 | Market | adrian.lazar@industriacarnii.ro | 2023-08-04 00:15:27 | 2025-07-10 23:02:51 | Details Edit Delete | |

5480 | Garra International will trade Brazilian duck meat to the Middle East | Brazilian exports of the product in USD reached a record last year, but, according to the animal trading company, there is potential to sell even more |
Seen as a delicacy, duck meat has been increasing its share among Brazilian exports. Last year, for example, 3,600 tons were shipped, a record in US dollars (USD 13.1 million). The product, which has high potential and constant growth, caught the attention of Garra International, an animal protein trading company which closed an agreement in March to sell it in the Middle East.

At first, Villa Germânia Alimentos, one of the largest producers of duck meat in Latin America, will be the sole provider. The operation will have a restricted start – in order to test and understand the market –, but with plans for volume expansion in the medium term. Within three months, the first products will begin to be sold in countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

The first conversations regarding the partnership between Garra and Villa Germânia happened in Gulfood, the main food and beverage fair in the Middle East, which was held in February. The company's objective is to increase its revenue in the region by USD 50 million (or 40%) in the next 12 months.

“Countries from North Africa and the Middle East are currently the destination of 65% of our exports, including chicken, beef, lamb, mutton and, now, duck”, says Matias Hees, CCO of Garra. “After all, we are talking about a market of 400 million people, which has increased its purchasing power and, consequently, its consumption of animal protein. Naturally, this also includes more sophisticated products, such as duck meat”.

Globally, duck meat exports reached 270,000 tons in 2020, with a revenue of USD 1.1 billion, according to market research firm IndexBox. The biggest buyers were, respectively, Germany, Hong Kong and France, while the main sellers were Hungary, China and Poland.

About Garra

Garra is a trading company that combines expertise and an international network of contacts to create relevant connections between the two ends of the animal protein supply chain, buyers and suppliers. Founded 26 years ago, the company has operations in more than ten countries and clients in about 60 markets. Garra offers complete solutions, including customized financial conditions, to maximize revenue in each operation.
| 1 | Industry | adrian.lazar@industriacarnii.ro | 2022-05-19 09:47:31 | 2025-07-10 19:15:14 | Details Edit Delete | |

5764 | Brazil: Pork exports reached 102,700 tons in September | Brazilian exports of pork totaled 102.7 thousand tons in September, informs the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). The number is 8.5% lower than that recorded in the same period in 2021, when 112,200 tons were shipped. |
In the same comparative period, pork sales reached revenue of US$ 244.3 million, a result 4.5% lower than that recorded in September last year, with US$ 255.8 million.

"The average price of international pork sales has been recovering significantly since June this year. In September, average prices were at levels close to those seen at the height of the international African Swine Fever crisis, when there was greater pressure from the global market for animal protein. It is a positive sign for the behavior of exports in the second half of the year and for the minimization of losses in the Brazilian swine industry in the first half of the year. It is also worth mentioning the diversification of markets throughout 2022, with Brazil increasing exports to countries in all regions of the world," analyzes ABPA’s market director, Luís Rua.

Year-to-date, pork sales reached 825,000 tonnes, 5% lower than when shipped between January and September 2021, with 868,800 tonnes.

Total revenue accumulated in the first nine months of 2022 reached US$ 1.851 billion, 10.2% lower than the figure for the same period in 2021, with US$ 2.061 billion.

"Ships of pork have been gradually recovering the levels of exports throughout the year. In the first quarter, the monthly average was below 80 thousand tons. In the following three months, Brazil reached a monthly average of over 90 thousand tons. In the third quarter, we exceeded the monthly average of 100 thousand tons, which signals a better-than-expected end of the year, in relation to the projections drawn at the beginning of 2022, at levels close to those carried out in 2021," evaluates the ABPA president, Ricardo Santin.

Main destination for Brazilian pork exports, China imported 46.9 thousand tons in September (-12.1%), followed by Hong Kong, with 8.1 thousand tons (-48.5%), Chile, with 7 .1 thousand tons (+46.2%), Philippines, with 6.4 thousand tons (+53.2%), Vietnam, with 5.5 thousand tons (+26.3%) and Angola, with 4.5 thousand tons (+92.4%).
| 1 | Market | adrian.lazar@industriacarnii.ro | 2022-10-12 04:55:09 | 2025-07-09 05:39:48 | Details Edit Delete | |

The international market is demanding Brazilian products. This scenario allowed the sector to regain strength and ship accumulated volumes in 2022 very close to what we saw last year, when we recorded export records. These are fundamental currencies for the industry and the country, at a time of economic recovery, given that the sector has not yet overcome the impacts of high production costs”, said the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.Considering only the month of November, China, the main destination for Brazilian pork exports, increased its purchases by 95% compared to the same period last year, with a total of 42.8 thousand tons.
