1600 Vietnam expects its tra fish exports to China to increase The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) says the reduction in import taxes implemented by China on tra fish will help Vietnamese producers boost their exports to this country that represents the largest market for Vietnamese tra fish.
At the end of May, China has announced a reduction in import taxes for 221 aquatic products from member states of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

According to VASEP, from July 1, China reduced import tariffs from 10% to 7% for tra fish fillets and another reduction from 12% to 7% for tariffs on fresh and frozen tra fish.

VASEP says this measure will help lift tra fish exports through official channels instead of cross-border trade, which will exempt goods from a 17% value added tax and import tax.

Furthermore, analysts at VASEP consider that the current trade war between China and the US represents a chance for the Vietnamese fish producers to boost their tra fish exports to these two markets.

Secretary General of VASEP Truong Dinh Hoe said tra fish could be used for hundreds of recipes so the domestic tra fish sector could increase export of added-value products into China.

Also, VASEP statistics showed that tra fish shipments to China have surged by 21-35% annually in the past five years.
The Chinese market imported $174.2 million worth of Vietnamese tra fish between January and May, making it the biggest currency earner among exports to China.

Last year, China became the fourth largest importer of Vietnamese aquatic products with a value of $1.33 billion, accounting for 15% of the total. In the first half of this year, seafood shipments to China and Hong Kong were estimated to exceed $586.4 million, surpassing the EU to become the third largest importer behind the US and Japan.
    Market 2018-07-16 10:36:44 2025-08-05 21:20:05 Details Edit Delete

The packs can be designed in such a way, that the end user is able to separate the carrier board from the plastic barrier layer and then put it into the paper recycling.
The tray sealer line includes a multifunctional GMS 520 single-cut meat portioner from TVI, which can process all types of red meat and poultry at a very low level of processing cost for every portion in any consistency, and always optimised for weight and product trim. Pack labelling is handled by an L 310 conveyor belt labeller, which applies a D label to the packs. In addition to this, a blow-on applicator is integrated into the line for applying promotional labels, which are increasingly being used for packs on the fresh food shelves.
A demonstration of MultiFresh™ PaperBoard packs on thermoforming packaging machines will be run on the R 105 MF.
With a high level of efficiency and a large spectrum ranges of unformed packs and formed packs with deeper cavities, in which products with different heights and shapes can be packed, the machine is seen as one of the most performant equipment in this sector. The visitors can also observe the new X-line generation of thermoforming packaging machines, which is equipped for the digitalised production technology of the future thanks to its comprehensive sensor system, and which sets a new benchmark in the market.
    Events 2018-07-16 13:33:28 2025-08-06 04:13:43 Details Edit Delete
1602 Russia's meat imports down 1.7-fold in H1 2018 Russia imported 1.7 times less meat in the first half of this year compared to the similar period from 2017, down to 203.5 thousand tons, according to the Federal Customs Service, as reported by Meatinfo.ru.
In the first six months of 2018, pork imports amounted 36.3 thousand tons, down from 147.7 thousand tons in January-June last year.

Russia's poultry meat imports amounted to 32.8 thousand tons in the mentioned period, down from 52.6 thousand tons in the first half of 2017.

Beef imports decreased from 152.6 thousand tons in January-June 2017 to 134.4 thousand tons in the first half of this year.

Including the country's meat trade with countries from the Eurasian Economic Union, imports were at the level of 322.5 thousand tons down from 433.2 thousand tons a year earlier, according to the National Union of Pig breeders (NSS) estimates.

Yury Kovalev, CEO of the NSS, said that by the end of 2018, the volume of Russia's meat imports will be significantly lower than 1 million tons. Still, Kovalev considers that a level of 5-10% domestic consumption will be covered by pork imports.

"No country with a developed sector of the agro-industrial complex wants to completely get rid of food imports. The main goal is a large number of exports with a positive balance (Brazil, Canada), well, or at least with zero balance (US and EU)," Kovalev explained. "I think that even here Russia has an ambitious but realistic goal - to enter the top-10 world agro-industrial exporters, having at least a zero foreign trade balance."

On the other hand, Russia meat exports as of July 8 were 29.4% higher than a year earlier (excluding trade with countries from the Eurasian Economic Union) - reaching 107.3 thousand tons. In shipments, poultry predominated, amounting to 68.2 thousand tons (+ 31.8% compared to the same period from 2017). Sales of pork abroad increased by 24.5% to 36.5 thousand tonnes, beef from 1.8 thousand tonnes to 2.6 thousand tonnes. The NSS estimates the volume of external sales taking into account the countries from the Eurasian Economic Union at 149.1 thousand tons compared to 104.5 thousand tons in the first half of 2017.
    Industry 2018-07-16 12:01:35 2025-08-05 15:56:09 Details Edit Delete

1604 Spaniards are looking for free-salt and fat chorizos The Center for Agri-Food Research and Technology of Aragon (CITA) is developing research on the production of healthier sausages.
A new research dedicated to healthier cured raw meat products is developed in Spain. The Center for Agri-Food Research and Technology of Aragon (CITA) is looking to reduce the levels of fat and salt in the chorizos (Spanish sausages), reports CdeComunicacion portal.
The mission is assumed by Begona Panea, researcher of the Animal Production and Health Unit, and the funding is supported by the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE) plan.
At this time, the research team has reduced the salt levels by replacing sodium chloride with other salts, suitable for hypertensive patients. To replace the fat, textured soy has been used. The project is a continuation of the FITE last year, in which potato or gelatin was used as substitutes for fat and special salts as substitutes for salt.

"The project tries to get sausages, in this case, chorizos, healthier for the consumer. Consumers are concerned about their health and one of the problems is that the sausages have a lot of fat and salt. The recommendations of the WHO are in the sense of reducing the lower consumption of salt and fat in these products. What we are trying is to obtain new formulations that allow us to have some sausages with good taste, but healthier", explained Begona Panea.
The new products are delivered in different formats and sizes and the researchers have initiated a series of visual assessments with different opinion groups to know the preferences and tastes of the final consumer in order to adapt to market trends.
In the Spanish market, there is no sausage that combines the reduction of salt and the change in the lipid profile. Only four or five brands make sausages low in salt and in some cases, it is impossible to know what the salt content of the product is.
    Industry 2018-07-17 07:00:21 2025-08-05 18:12:05 Details Edit Delete
